It is one of the best landscaped parks in northern Germany and is without a doubt one of the places most favoured by the people of Hamburg to relax and get away from it all. The Ernst-Barlach-Haus and Jenisch-Haus are two museums within the park itself, which offer various exhibitions of art and cultural history.

Anybody visiting the park should under no circumstances miss out on seeing the neo-baroque Kaisertor at the entrance to the Elbe causeway.

Even the venerable Hanseat and merchant Baron Caspar von Voght was enthusiastic about the “beautiful trees”, the “the lovely variety of hills and valleys”, as well as the “varied clumps of trees”, which still fascinate the park’s visitors today.
