Ciganjur residents hold torchlight parade to greet Ramadan.

Various events or traditions to welcome the holy month of Ramadan held in various regions. As in Ciganjur, South Jakarta, Indonesia, the torch parade becomes an annual tradition of welcoming the month that the Muslims are looking forward to.

@Alicia Haag Yes it is very hot and really crowded there. The parade trip is still long, about 5 km away. It was very difficult to precede them and filming, so I decided to go back. 😅

@Cheyenne Veum During Ramadan, Muslims fast every day, we wake up well before dawn to eat the first meal of the day, which has to last until sunset. It is meant to be a time of spiritual discipline of deep contemplation of one's relationship with God, extra prayer, increased charity and generosity, and intense study of the Quran. During the day, We still work, school or doing any other normal duties.

@Loma Borer This is called Kembang Kelapa (coconut flower). The decoration is the hallmark of the Betawi tribe in Jakarta.
