There was a time when if you wanted a 300 horsepower, four-wheel drive car that was still affordable for the everyman, you had only two options: the Subaru Impreza WRX STi or the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo.

Now, you can have a Golf or a Focus with as much power and four-wheel drive for more or less the same price, and some now claim that the STi is just a bit past it when compared to new hyper-hatch competitors.
