In July 2017, a team of AP journalists accompanied a group of international researchers aboard the Finnish icebreaker MSV Nordica. They sailed through the Arctic’s fabled Northwest Passage connecting the Pacific and Atlantic oceans to document the changes global warming has wrought in one of the world’s most fragile environments. 

In this video, discover the MSV Nordica breaking ice as video journalist David Keyton shares some of the highlights of the journey and what they learnt from this voyage.
