A 900m ascent path starting at the parking of Praz Coutant, Plaine-Joux road at Passy, FR. Nice little footbridge can be seen on the last meters of this difficult climb.

In the Fiz mountain range, surrounded by the Giffre and Arve valleys, the Platé desert faces Mont Blanc. Limestone plateau of 1980 hectares, it is composed mainly of lapiaz dug by glaciers and meltwater. It is one of the largest lapiaz in Europe. The plateau is accessible only by foot, which is why it is called the "desert".
