"E05: Wise Freedom
School: Baradene College of the Sacred Heart
Location: Sylvia Park, Mt Wellington, near Country Road
The owl is significant for Baradene College, as it is a symbol for the school goal: Personal Growth in an Atmosphere of Wise Freedom. Their design style is inspired by the art of Chris Haughton, and the owlet was produced by year 10 students.

School: Botany Downs Secondary College
Location: Sylvia Park, Mt Wellington, near Country Road
Queen “B” is bold, she is beautiful, she is Botany. She represents the Botany reserve that surrounds our environmentally focused school. Queen “B” otany is inspired by the drag queen culture which celebrates diversity and equality. She was created by inspirational Year 10 and 12 Art students and Miss Cunningham.
E13: Daydreamer
School: Cockle Bay School
Location: Sylvia Park, Mt Wellington, near Country Road
Day Dreamer was designed and drawn by Year 6 students Jeromia Lin and Mabel Zhang and painted by the Year 6 Art Group. Day Dreamer was inspired by the differences between the starry skied-night time and sun filled daytime. Both the sun and moon give light to the earth. This is portrayed by using patterns that follow the rays of both the sun and the moon.
E15: DIORA
School: Diocesan School For Girls
Location: Sylvia Park, Mt Wellington, near Country Road
Students at DIO were excited to adopt their owlet, naming her Diora (DIO being the school community overlapping with the word ORA, which in Maori language means to be alive, safe, healthy well-being). Diora grew a new coat of feathers inspired by the culture of Diocesan School for Girls and the concept of well-being.

School: Ellerslie School
Location: Sylvia Park, Mt Wellington, near Country Road
Here is Hootie! He is named after the grand old Pohutakawa which has stood outside Ellerslie School for over 140 years! Owls love living in trees, so he has seen many children learn and grow over the years. They have certainly shown him how he can be ‘the best he can be! As he settles his feathers after another school day, he wonders what new learning will happen tomorrow.
E23: More Than Me
School: Howick College
Location: Sylvia Park, Mt Wellington, near Country Road
The design was created by artists who wanted to incorporate nature into a fantasy piece. They have used aspects from Pan’s Labyrinth and the Dark Crystal, as well as different Fairy folklore and sketches. The general aesthetic was inspired by James Cameron’s Avatar and previous art pieces made by the students. The colours were picked with the focus on a night sky, which was also picked as a background.
E42: Bee Valued
School: Pakuranga Heights School
Location: Sylvia Park, Mt Wellington, near Country Road
The students in Room 13 at Pakuranga Heights School were inspired by the houses at the school, Piwakawka, Tui, Weka and Kea, along with the school mascot, the Bee. The children worked together on ideas for the design and everyone took turns to decorate it.

School: Pakuranga Intermediate School

An eager team of students in the school’s extension programme tackled the ‘Little Hoot’ project. Bright colours were chosen for this piece as the students wanted it to express hope and caring when life throws in some hard knocks.

School: Saint Kentigern College

The Saint Kentigern College owlet is inspired by the schools Scottish and Presbyterian heritage.
E49: Little Miss Hootie Goes To School
School: Saint Kentigern Girl's School
Location: Sylvia Park, Mt Wellington, near Country Road
When the girls at Saint Kentigern Girls’ School met Little Miss Hootie they wanted her to come to school with them to be transformed from a young little owlet into a wise old owl. Hence the need for Little Miss Hootie to have a suitable school uniform to wear. Together they have dressed her and she is now ready to fly high."
