Wong Chuk Hang, or “Yellow Bamboo Ditch” in Cantonese but there is nothing remotely rural about this gritty industrial neighbourhood. Once a dirty industrial area in the Southern District of Hong Kong Island, now the grimy warehouses punctuated by new towers. Hidden inside those buildings, are a number of new art galleries, design shops, bars and restaurants, along with a growing number of design offices and other creative enterprises. In this image you can see Ocean Park to the east, and beyond to Deep Water Bay and Repulse Bay. And to the west is Aberdeen Harbour with the floating "Jumbo Restaurant", Ap Lei Chau (The second most densely populated island in the world), and in the distance Lamma Island, Cheung Chau, and then Lantau Island.
