VR Films to Look For at The Cannes Film Festival 2018
The Cannes Film Festival 2018, one of the most anticipated film festival of the year, has taken place in Cannes, France on May 8th and will last until May 19th. Ever since 1946, it has been one of the most important event in the calendar of film industry. This year is a special year for The Cannes Film Festival as it is the first time that virtual reality (VR) films will be included in the festival line-up. “Carne y Arena”
“Carne y Arena” is the entry VR film at the festival. It tells the story of Latin American immigrants attempting to cross into the United States through the Arizona desert when they are caught by U.S. authorities. Director Iñárritu located real people who suffered the torturous journey and had them reenact it on camera and shot the story with VR’s 360-degree camera to bring the audience into the movie.
